Junior cricket at Blackburn Cricket Club is a very popular program with teams playing last season on Wednesday and Friday Nights and Sunday mornings.  The program caters for all ages and abilities, and we welcome new members to an ever growing club.  In line with our Junior Player Philosophy, the aim of our Junior Program is for every player to not only participate, but to also improve.

For the littlies, we offer Woolworths Cricket Blast Sunday mornings (new time for 2025/26) at Morton Park. Supported by Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria, this program is designed for our future cricket stars to learn the fundamental skills of cricket (batting, bowling, throwing, catching and fielding) in a fun and engaging way.  Experienced coaches focus on skill development and build towards modified cricket games to build the pathway to Junior Cricket teams. Our Woolworths Cricket Blast future stars also have a great time training alongside the matches for Super 7s, Fast 9s and Girls Stage 2 teams, supporting the transition from our development program into non-competitive, team cricket.

Along the player development trajectory, the non competitive Level 1 Super 7's and Level 2 Fast 9's gets kids used to playing on a full sized oval, with everyone rotating through the batting and bowling equally.

From there the kids advance to Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and now U18 with much on field success in these grades throughout the years. We support the transition in competitive, graded cricket by demonstrating inclusive values and celebrating improvement, especially in the younger grades. The players are generally graded according to their ability, but we try as much as possible to keep friendship groups together, and build supportive team relationships in a competitive environment.

Our Girls program includes Stage 1 and Stage 2 teams, with a strong focus on fun and development in cricket. We are working towards entering a Stage 3 team to complete the cricket pathway. We continue to build pathways into Women’s Cricket and long term development of cricket for everyone.
