Important Message to Senior Players
IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO ALL SENIOR PLAYERS - NOW’S THE TIME
Whilst, as a Club, we are enjoying a relatively successful season, both on and off the field, the critical time, on field, is right here, right now, as finals time rapidly approaches. Of our senior teams, each of the 1’s, 2’s and 3’s is right in the mix for a finals berth, hence for a Premiership opportunity.
I have observed something off an intensity drop-off, particularly in training, since our post-Christmas resumption. Each and every senior player, from top to bottom, is required to re-commit to the Club’s quest for success, by ensuring that he either attends all scheduled training sessions, and participates vigorously in training while there, or has an acceptable reason for not doing so. We should have 30-40 players at training, which is a large number to manage, so take on the responsibility to help out those organising, by ensuring that you are not idle at any time – you should, at all times, be batting, bowling, wicketkeeping, actively fielding and/or engaged in drills.
Become serious about your match preparation. Friday night is part of your preparation time – treat it as such. Pump in fluids, not the wrong ones, in anticipation of hot February and March days in the field, or at the crease (batting and bowling). Sporting contests, particularly at the season’s pointy end, are often won and lost by marginal differentials in commitment and energy levels. Make sure you’re not the one to let down your captain, your teammates and your Club.
Do your bit to make a good season for Blackburn Cricket Club into a great season – tomorrow’s too late ! Now’s the time.
