Match played against Southern District Churches at Caufield Cricket Club on 13 th November 2011
The scores were Southern Districts & Churches Cricket Leaugue all out for 99 and the BHRDCA in reply made 2 / 100
We lost the toss on a overcast day. The pitch played resonable early but gradually as the game continued kept low. We opened with Ryan Snedden, he took a wicket in the first over. He bowled with good pace and accuracy. Jeremy Musso opened from the other end and bowled tight and creating doubt in the batsmans mind. Jarrod made some bowling changes and struck almost immediately, Aaron Clarke bowled the Southern batsman with a flighted delivery. Aaron bowled aggressively with the Captain setting attacking fields. Ed Sim supported the guys with a fast accurate spell.
With the guys fielding resonably well, Jarrod made another change by introducing Left arm spinner Andy Yeo with great success. Having two spinners bowling in tandem was exciting to watch and the Southern batsman soon succumed to the pressure. The highlight was the ground fielding with a run out with the final ball from Matt Drysdale. A good display by wicket keeper Andrew Harrison. Southern District Churches were all out for 99 runs.
A tremendous lunch break was provided between the innings by the Southern Churches and the hospitality was first class. Box Hill started there run chase after an inspired speech from management and the Captain. We opened the batting with James Kenworthy and Matt Drysdale providing a solid start with the boys gaining confidence and trusting their techniques to the turf wicket. Matty was the first wicket to go which then brought Jarrod to the crease.
After playing himself in Jarrod and James proceded to attack the bowlers. James was next man dismissed after playing a classy innings. this brought to the crease Ryan. He produced some good cover drives. But with 6 to win Jarrod smashed the little leg spinner over the fence and settled the game with lots of overs to spare. Overall a great team effort. The boys played the game in the right spirit with good sportsmanship and camaraderie. This standard of the squad of players is a credit to the coaching to the relevant clubs. Well done boys. Thank you to Caulfield Cricket Club, the Southern District Churches delegates, the umpires and the parents for the excellent support and encouragement for the players involved. Both Travis and I were impressed with the attitude of the players who were well lead by Jarrod Taun - Henderson.
thank you
