Thanks for having me at the Blackburn Centre last Friday week. It was great to see a large centre in action!
Fantastic to see you coaching and co-ordinating. The support from the coaches and parents was a real standout and something I have not seen at other clubs. The fact that yourself and other Blackburn players invovle themselves in the Milo program is great.
The work you have done this season have not gone unnoticed as Blackburn is the second largest centre in the State !!
This is tremendous given your area is the most densely populated cricket region (number of clubs) in Victoria - if not Australia. You should also know that a couple of other centres have popped up in close proximity and so to have nearly the same numbers as last year is a tremendous effort. The only centre larger in the State is Mt Martha. While your numbers are very high it was good to hear you were focusing on the quality of the program, the coach/participant ratio etc.
We have noted your initiatives re co-ordinating Milo and integrating participants with the club. These initiatives are certainly beneficial to the club and Milo program and assist in increasing participation rates in cricket and the quality of our program. They are supported by Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria.
I appreciate your efforts in co-ordinating such a large centre, setting a high benchmark and sharing your ideas with me.
It is great to see Blackburn providing the kids a chance to play cricket and learn the skills of the game. With so many other sports programs around it is important to keep driving the participation in cricket and help it remain Australia's favourite sport for generations to come.
