Twas the Night Before

Twas the Night before Season..........

Here we are Round  2 is finally upon us. After almost 3 months of pre-season training at Maddocks, slugging it out in the dark, running to Springvale rd and back in the rain and in single digit temperature, the time has come to put all that hard work to the test. Pre-season has been fantastic but i think its fair to say that about 3 week's ago everyone wanted to get outside and get amongst it and take that extra step in season 2010/11.

With a new Skip Benn Taplin the boys have lifted again to another level and have all done their best to impress the new coach and to try and crack into the team they are aiming for.

Finally now after almost 3 months selection night has come and past and what a fantastic night it was. After a strong last performance on the track the boys headed up to the rooms to finally find out who would be playing where. Selection was still to be finalised so the boys sat down to a traditional bit of 'turk-fry' to recover after the big session (most of us were probably sweating more putting down the chili than after the work we did on the track.) When "Skip" finally made his way up the stairs to read the sides everyone in the room fell quiet hoping that they would be called up and that the hard work on the track trying to impress had payed off.

The teams were read and i think its fair to say everyone was excited and pumped to play with their respective side. A massive congratulations goes out to Ronny Slight who has worked harder than anyone on the track over the past couple of years and after putting solid runs on the board and his hard work has finally payed off getting called up to open the batting for the firsts this week. All the boys are proud of ya Fogel go out there and make us proud mate!
Another congratulations goes to Callum Haughley who has also been called up to the firsts for his first game and after a hard pre season on the track everyone is excited to see how you go mate good luck.

Personally I cannot wait to play my first game with Jimmy Cran, my first game with Ronny in over four seasons and my first game with Cal who I was lucky enough to coach in the under 14's and again this season, nothing makes a coach more proud than being able to play with one of his juniors and i hope its the first of many to come up and play in the first XI of what is the best club in the country.

The Club knows everyone cannot wait to get out there this week and hopefully get the first of what will be many wins this season.

Finally we want to welcome down Ollie Hill all the way from England and also congratulate him on getting in the first XI can't wait to see you get out there mate and get the runs on the board.

Good luck to Jay and the seconds, Warren and the thirds and good luck to new 4th XI captain Vikram Hadya a great reward for fantastic hard work and improvement for Vikram who has improved more than 100% since he first came down to the club.

All the best to everyone and have fun.
