Here at Blackburn Cricket Club we love seeing our members succeed and achieve in all their endeavours and dreams.
So it is with great pride that we would like to congratulate our very own Jack Murphy on representing Victoria in the Under 21 team to compete in the Australian Indoor Cricket Championship.
Jack is one of the hardest workers in training or on the field so it was to no surprise to many that he achieved this magnificent goal.
Jacky Boy started playing Indoor Cricket 4 years ago with a few of his fellow Blackburn Cricket teammates from the Under 16's. With his dead-eye-dick bowling and explosive enthusiasm he soon started catching the eyes of renowned Indoor Cricketers. 5 months ago Jack was invited by Indoor Cricket Victoria to try out for the Open & Under 21 teams that were to travel to Silverwater N.S.W to try and win the Australian Championship.
Jack being Jack jumped at it and grabbed with both hands, try outs went for over 4 months and across the whole state (slightly exaggerated), from Rosebud to Seymour, to Ballarat to Box Hill. Wherever the team tried out Jacky Boy went, not wanting to let this opportunity slip. His Hard Work and Determination proved rewarding, with Jack Murphy being selected amongst the Under 21 Victorian State Team, a magnificent effort.
So on Wednesday 21st July, Jack and his teammates boarded the team bus with a dream and burning desire to outplay their Australian counterparts from all corners of this great nation. 10 hours later they turned up in Silverwater, Sydney, NSW ready to run riot. And run riot they did, demolishing all teams before them in a round robin format, which placed them in the Grand Final against Queensland.
Lets leave it at that!!
Again well done Jack, we at Blackburn are extremely proud of you and can not wait for you to again represent us this summer.
