Senior Coach
A Message from the President
I am delighted to announce the appointment of Benn Taplin as the Club's senior coach for the 2010/11 season.
Benn joined Blackburn from Bundoora in 2005/2006 and brings a wealth of 1st Eleven experience to the role.
He has been a significant player in our 1st Eleven team since joining the Club as a top order batsman and an absolutely fantastic fielder. In 2008/2009 Benn tied with Heath O’Dwyer in the Club’s Neville Jacobs Shield (Club Champion).
Benn is excited and honoured to have the opportunity to lead our Club and bring the many personal and cricket attributes he has developed over his career to his new role.
He and his wife Soraya have just returned from an overseas holiday, and Benn now cannot wait to get stuck in to coaching the Club.
I am sure that all players , along with the committee, will join me in congratulating Benn on his appointment, and show him our full support. This support starts well before the first match ball is bowled, with indoor training beginning on Monday August 2nd at Maddocks Blackburn from 7pm-8pm, and I expect all players to begin thinking about their preparation for this season NOW.
We will be issuing some details about pre-season meetings very shortly, so please ensure that you lock these dates in to your diaries when they are issued.
I am confident that this coming season we will build on our progress last year and can see no reason why we cannot take the next step in all grades in 2010/2011.
