Winter Update
Dear Members, Supporters and Fans
While you are hopefully enjoying the pleasure of supporting your local or AFL football team, or your sons/daughter’s chosen sport, we wanted to keep you updated on some important news about our Club.
First, congratulations to Brad and Hayley Byrnes on the birth of their first child, Cooper William, on April 14th. A healthy bouncing boy and they are all doing well. Enjoy the exciting journey ahead, we wish you a lifetime of happiness and health.
On April 28th, the Club held its 109th Annual General Meeting (AGM). A copy of our 2009/2010 Annual Report is now available for view on our here.
Our AGM brings together Club members committed to contribute to the success of our Club through volunteering some of their time to assist in achieving our vision:
BLACKBURN CRICKET CLUB
Our Club’s goal is to be successful in all grades, both junior and senior, by maximising
and nurturing the talent of all players through coaching, encouragement, teamwork, and enjoyment.
Premierships and winning matches are great, but participation is the key. Through this simple philosophy, we aim to achieve both.
Our Senior and Junior Players Charter is now available to read in the top menu under News. It explains both the Club’s expectations of the players, and conversely what the players can expect from the Club.
Please read the Charter and if you have any questions ask Tom Cullen or one of the others on the Executive.
Last season our junior section was highly successful. We fielded 13 junior teams (175 registered players) and had over 100 Milo In-2-Cricket participants. These 275+ juniors will hopefully one day be doing what we do for them now - running their club.
In the interim, it is our responsibility to give these youngsters every opportunity to participate and develop in accordance with our vision and philosophy.
We were also proud to field 4 senior teams and one veterans’ team. It was fantastic to see some of our junior parents getting involved in these teams.
Pre Season Training will commence for Senior and U16 players on the Monday 2nd of August. Maddocks Sports has been chosen with 3 nets for our players to get ready for the season.
7pm in the nets.
It is with both delight and enthusiasm the our upcoming season, and in no particular order, we advise you of the new committee members/volunteers.
Although most of you know the people listed below, it is important that we as a Club let our members (new and existing) learn a little bit of background on these people (aside from their cricket abilities) so you have a better understanding of their roles and commitment:
