SEMI FINAL V's BULLEEN TEMPLESTOWE.
Blackburn 183 (P.Brookes 49, R. Kunst 30, D. Morley 28)
defeated
Bulleen Templestowe 91 (R.Kunst 4-17)
We won the toss and batted, we had to play on the bottom ground because our great council decided to put top soil all over the ground!!! Great work by them.
We started pretty well getting to 0 for 42 before ron fell for 24. From this wicket we then lost 4 for 4, to be 4 for 46. Space and Reggie then held the innings together for a while before space was out for 17. Brookesy joined Reg and they batted well to get us to tea. They continued their great partnership after tea to get us to 7 for 145 when Reggie ran out brooksey!! Brooksey made a fantastic 49.
Dave morley came in at the end and smashed his way to 28 getting us to all out for 183 in the 80th over. This was going to be a competitive score seeing as though our bowling has
been our strength for the majority of the year.
They started well with the bat and at drinks they were 0 for 34. Then Reggie and Vee bowled really well getting a couple of wickets before all hell broke loose and Reggie destroyed their middle order to get 4 for 17 of 9.
We got consistent wickets to have them 8 for 88 at the break. It took only 3 overs for us to bowl them out for 91, a great win considering we were 6 for 74 at one stage and they were 0 for 43.A great credit for our win must go to Brooksey, Reg and Vee who bowled really well and reg and pete both batted well to get us to a competitive total.
We now play Vermont in the Grand Final and am looking forward to a big game.Jay Taylor

SEMI FINAL : 6 and 7 March 2009
BLACKBURN 266
Dwyer 71 , Rose 50 , Roberts 60 , Atkins 23 , Meilak 28
defeated
BLACKBURN SOUTH 106
Smith 1/19 , Meilak 2/38 , Rayner 4/29 , Rose 1/10 , Yeo 1/10
After winning the toss and batting we were soon 1/6 with their opening bowler steaming in. Rose adopted a positive approach and Dwyer a steady approach and together they took the score to 74 before Rose departed for a well made half century.
We progressed to 4/106 when W.Roberts joined Dwyer and together they consolidated with a 96 run partnership before Dwyer departed for an excellent 71 on a wicket that had more in it for the bowlers than any we had played on previously during the season. The bottom half of the order added 64 valuable runs with Atkins and Meilak both contributing well.
On day two Smith steamed in from one end and Meilak was “landing them on a sixpence” at the other. After 14 overs they had a wicket each and Yeo had thrown down the stumps from side on for a fabulous run out. Blackburn South was 3/25 and in trouble.
Rayner joined the miserly Meilak (who bowled 16 consecutive overs) and not only maintained the pressure but took four great wickets in his nine overs. After 32 overs they both had a well earned spell and Blackburn South had lost 8 wickets.
Rose and Yeo then mopped up the tail taking a wicket each and the match was over before tea. The other highlight was Callanan’s four consecutive catches at first slip (the last four wickets to fall), two of them being real “species”.
The boys then returned to Blackburn in time to see the seconds win their semi so well. Let’s hope the two teams can again display the same spirit in their grand finals. If they can, two flags for the “Burners” this season is certainly not out of the question.
